WCP 2026-2027 Board

Hannah Buckhalter, President

Hannah Buckhalter is a dedicated parent and community builder at Westside Cooperative Preschool. Before becoming a stay‑at‑home mom, she spent ten years in hospitality business management developing expertise in operations, department leadership, and relationship‑driven customer service—skills she now brings to her role as Board President of the Westside Cooperative Preschool.

As a parent of two children attending WCP, Hannah is deeply invested in strengthening family engagement, Play Based early education, and sustaining the cooperative model that empowers caregivers as partners in early education. As President, Hannah is passionate about continued learning for parents and caregivers,  supporting teachers, and creating opportunities for our community to come together. Hannah lives in West Olympia with her family where she enjoys gardening, skiing, and boating in her spare time.

Meg Myers, Vice President

Meg Myers is thrilled to be serving in her second role on the WCP Board as Vice President. As VP, she is in charge of family job placements and compliance, and supports other board members in whatever capacity is needed. As a former early childhood caregiver, arts educator, grant administrator, brewer, and business director, Meg is grateful for the opportunity to share her skills, serve our community, and help our little ones grow to their full potential.

Meg has a child in Red Class and a 1 year old who thinks that they are also in Red Class. Her family enjoys gardening, cooking, making up silly songs, and adventuring. Meg is a New Yorker at heart, but for the last 11 years has loved the natural beauty and abundance that the PNW brings, and adores that her kiddos are “forest babies.”

Melissa Raak, Treasurer

Melissa is honored to serve as Treasurer for WCP and is proud to be an Orange Class parent.

Before becoming a stay-at-home mom, she built a career in finance, including accounting and most recently serving as an Internal Auditor for Las Vegas casinos, and she is grateful to use those skills to support the co-op. When Melissa discovered the co-op preschool model and the strong sense of community it creates for both children and parents, she knew it was the perfect fit for her family. She loves that the co-op fosters lasting friendships and a true village where families learn, grow, and support one another, and serving on the board is her way of giving back by helping manage the preschool's finances responsibly and transparently.

Outside of the preschool, Melissa enjoys gardening, crafting, camping, and spending time outdoors with her family and two dogs.

Serena Lewis, Secretary

Born in Hawaii but raised in Olympia, she is a community advocate with prior experience as a board member with GRuB. She has a deep passion for cultivating roots within the community. When she finds spare time to reconnect with her hobbies, she loves to get cozy with a good book, practice yoga, and find new places to explore in the community. Serena has worked in education for over a decade, spanning from a nanny, as well as a preschool teacher, and teaching in public schools.

She has two children, one who is currently in Orange class and one who can’t wait to be officially enrolled! She is so excited to support the magic that happens in the school and lean into her role as Secretary on the board.

Molly Franey, Fundraising Chair

Molly brings more than 15 years of nonprofit fundraising experience to her role on the WCP Board. Throughout her career, she has worked to advance equitable systems for children and families, supporting organizations focused on early childhood education, reproductive justice, homelessness, and housing. She is passionate about helping ensure families have the resources and opportunities they need to thrive.

Molly recently returned to her hometown of Olympia with her family to raise her two boys, the youngest of whom is entering his second year at WCP. She is excited to lead the co-op's fundraising efforts this year and is grateful for the opportunity to put down roots, reconnect with her community, and build meaningful relationships with other local families.

Susanna Loewenstein, Membership Chair

As Membership Chair, Susanna is passionate about continuing Westside Cooperative’s long history of building community in a nurturing environment.

In addition to serving on the board, Susanna enjoys camping, mountain biking, gardening, and of course playing with her kids.

Morgan Maupin, House Manager

This will be Morgan’s second year on WCP board as the House Lead, responsible for ensuring the building and grounds are maintained. Morgan enjoys spending time outside hiking, surfing, biking, planting trees and shrubs, and doing projects on his 1902 house and property in East Olympia. He works for Washington State as an Environmental Planner focused on the science, engineering, and policy of stormwater management.

Morgan and his wife Camille are exhausted but happy parents to two boys attending WCP this year. They love WCP for the community, amazing and committed teachers, and just overall awesome environment for their kids.

Shauna Rumsey, Health and Safety Manager

Shauna is new on the board as Health and Safety Manager. She has a Masters in Social Work and has been a practicing therapist for 14 years.

Her daughter is in her third and last year at WCP and has grown in her social skills, confidence, and learning. She has enjoyed making such great parent friendships here at WCP and highly recommends Westside Cooperative Preschool!
