FAQs

In-house registration for current families will begin in late February and will be open for one week before registration opens to the public. Existing coop families will receive email notification of times and dates. New, interested families should watch the website for updated registration dates. Registration is held via an in-person registration event in early March. (For the 2026-2027 school year the in-person registration event for new families will be held on March 7 from 10-12. Please note that this is a first come first served event.) 

1. Act as an in-class Parent Helper throughout the year (Yellow class is approximately 1-2 times per month, Orange and Red classes are approximately 2-3 times per month).

2. Complete your parent job. Each family will be assigned a parent job by the Vice President, this varies by family skills and interests, and includes everything from board positions to doing the school's laundry, and maintaining the outdoor space. Questions about family jobs should be directed to vp@westsidecooperative.org 

3. Attend scheduled class meetings and two all-school meetings.

4. Work at least one weekend cleanup of the classroom and tool shed during the year.  

5. Participate in one summer work party.

6. Participate in one leaf raking party in the fall. 

7. Register as a student at Bates Technical College through WCP. This allows our coop to access affordable liability insurance as well as a host of other resources that make this coop preschool possible. This is done via a paper form completed once per year when other paper forms are completed.

8. Attend and volunteer at the annual Friendship Run fundraiser held in April at McLane Elementary School. (In the 2025-2026 school year the run will be held on April 19.)

9. Fundraise a set amount per family each year either by fundraising amongst family and friends or by paying the set amount directly. (In the 2025-2026 school year the amount is $350 per year.)

10. Pay an annual enrollment fee, and pay tuition in a timely manner each month. (Scholarships are available, for scholarship information please inquire with the treasurer at: Treasurer@westsidecooperative.org.)
